Bamboo Fiber

Why bamboo clothing is so soft and non-irritating? Bamboo fiber is obtained from the stem which is very sturdy and solid, but flexible. Mechanically crushed bamboo is mixed with soda and a small amount of other additives. As the result the thread is obtained which is thinner than a human hair and has round and very smooth surface.

Because of the smooth and round structure of its fibers bamboo fiber fabric is already beeing called the „new silk“. It is highly valued for its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, because of a bacteriostatic agent unique to bamboo plants called “bamboo kun” (kunh) which also helps bamboo resist harboring odors even after 100 washes.

Bamboo clothing is highly absorbent and wicks water away from the body 3 to 4 times faster than cotton. In warm, humid and sweaty weather, bamboo clothing helps keep the body dry, cooler and more comfortable. For sensitive or allergy prone skin, bamboo is perfect because bacteria don’t live well in this fabric. It cuts out 98% of harmful UV rays. Bamboo clothing is naturally more wrinkle-resistant drying time is two time shorter comparing to other fabrics.

Milk Protein Fiber

Milk Protein

We have been hearing from childhood that milk is a source of good health. Today all the best benefits of milk are successfully reveled in textile. The fabric made of milk protein and modal fibers remind us of natural silk or very soft wool. It nourishes skin in a very efficient manner by keeping away allergies, evens wrinkles, improves bloodstream. That is why it is primarily used in manufacturing kids wear or high quality underwear. People with sensitive skin can enjoy this fabric too.

To make milk protein fiber, milk is first dewatered and then it is skimmed. Bio-engineering technique applied, protein spinning fluid is obtained. This fluid is suitable for wet spinning process through which the final textile fiber is made. During this eco-friendly technological process the minimum amount of water is used, soil and other resources are conserved.

The natural protein humectant factor is present in the milk fiber, which makes skin more delicate and smooth. It is hygroscopic in nature; as such it absorbs moisture very well and lets your skin breath by regulating your thermal balance. All these healthy properties of milk protein fiber are beneficial to human health and directly influence our comfort state.

Milk protein fiber can be spun alone or with cashmere, silk, cotton, wool, modal and other fibers to make fabrics.

Merino Wool

Merino Wool

One of the most praised fibers – Merino wool. It is the thinnest, softest and fluffiest wool. Merino wool perfectly regulates human body temperature, even when it gets moist, it holds up warmth. Due to its composition, specifically lanolin, it is hygienic and neutralizes skin secretions.

The main factor is the quality of Merino wool. Fiber diameter is the single most important wool characteristic. Merino wool is very fine, typically it is between 14,5–23 microns. Regular wool taken from coarse sheep is between 25–35 microns thick and already causing itchiness and allergies.

The finer the wool, the softer it is. Superfine merino is 16–18 microns, fine merino measures 18–19 microns. OMNITEKSAS produces baby and children’s clothes from superfine Merino wool measuring 17,5 microns.
